In a positive development for the US labor market, initial jobless claims in the country saw a weekly decline of 10,000 to 222,000 for the period ending May 11, as per the latest report from the Department of Labor published on Thursday.

While the 4-week moving average edged up by 2,500 to reach 217,750, the advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate held steady at 1.2% for the week ending April 27, unchanged from the previous week's unrevised rate. Additionally, the advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment in the same period increased by 13,000 to 1,794,000.
